The African Giants: Hossam Hassan and Hossam Ashour
It is easy to forget that the all-time list is not purely European. Hossam Hassan, the Egyptian striker, won 41 trophies in a 30-year career spanning Al Ahly, Zamalek and the Egyptian national team. His countryman Hossam Ashour collected 39, almost all of them with Al Ahly, whose dominance of the CAF Champions League produced a medal haul no European defender could match.
Why the Record May Never Move Again
To pass Messi, a player born in the 2020s would need to win roughly four trophies a year for twelve years straight — and that is before they count.
